PRIMARY ELECTION
 SEPTEMBER 7, 2010
GENERAL ELECTION
NOVEMBER 2, 2010
 ELECT   JOHN A. BOYD
FOR CUYAHGOA COUNTY COUNCIL, DISTRICT 8 -  WARDS 2,5,6, GARFIELD HTS. AND MAPLE HTS.

Greetings Neighbor, Friends, and Brothers and Sisters:

Here we are once again gearing up for another political year. I predict that this will be an explosive political year, a government in turmoil due to corruption. I want to take a moment out to introduce myself to you and to share with you my intention to run in our District 8 for the new Cuyahgoa County Council. Districe 8 now includes Cleveland Wards 2,5,6 and the cities of Garfield Hts. and Maple Hts. As you know, this is an improtant political year, a new formation of our County Goverment. This election will have a profound impact on funding to support programs that service our county. Services that African Americans access and that is improtant to our quality of life issues. It is my sincere hope that you will consider extending to me your support during this campaign season and talk to your neighbors.
I have dedicated the last 10 years of my life working in the community, serving people, especially youth. Addressing issuesand concerns that affect our quality of life. I was elected to the Cuyahoga County Central Committee in 2006 and have served my community and my Ward tirelessly. I promise you that if it is God's will that I am sent to represent your communities interest in District 8, that I will give no less effort in that representation. My particular areas of concern and interest lay in the area of Economic Development and the over 1 billion dollars of construction that is slated for Cuyahoga County. That means employment opportunities that District  8 residents will have access to as I fight for your community and on your behalf to make that happen. The other area of concern will be the issues of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, whose poor lack of county funding in the past has had a deleterious impact on all of our communities, particularly the African American community.
So, I ask for your support, your consideration, to give me the privilege to represent our interest in District 8. A man that will fight for our interest and provide the oversight to ensure that fairness and equality are not just words that sound good. If you have any questios, or are so inclined to volunteer in your community, your Ward, your Precinct on my behalf, please do not hestitate to contact me.  I have been in this community for 52 years, same street off Cedar Ave. and the same house. I am a true native of Ward 6, born and bred. I love this community and its people, and consider it an Honor to be a voice for those who feel that they have no voice. I have been honored to have spent and dedicated the second half of my life to servicing the people in my community for the interest and for the things that will improve our community and the quality of your lives.

I am a servant of the people, pure and simple, and they have long forgotten that they are supposed to serve ONLY at the luxury of the people. That is why it is YOUR responsibility to hold EVERY political candidate and political party accountable based upon their record of delivering benefits to your community and to YOUR group. BENEFITS supersede political partisanship and political alliances…pure and simple.

I have been working hard to build a grassroots campaign for change, trying to get “our people” to understand that politics is a process that decides who get what benefits…pure and simple. Here is what I think is an effective strategy for our community politically: 1. Play to win 2. Negotiate for the people’s interest 3. Vote as a bloc 4. Vote your economic interest 5. Hold EVERY political candidate and political party accountable based ONLY on their record of delivering benefits to the community 6. Benefits supersede political partisanship and political alliances. My friends, I am happy to be writing you to invite you to join our campaign for hope and change for our community and for the thousands of other District 8 voters like yourself. I would be honored to have you join our fight for a better District by becoming a supporter of the John A. Boyd for County Council for District 8 campaign.

I promise you, we will bring change to our communities by consistently telling the truth, forcefully, repeatedly and honestly. The days of being bullied by corrupt politics are over! WE can and must do better. I am asking for your help in our race to change our communities services on the county level, by volunteering or even making a donation. Supporters can use Pay Pal at this site for any Campaign Contributions. To join us, please contact me at 216-376-7738 or at servingthepeople@yahoo.com.
